Harder Stadium

Harder StadiumHarder Stadium was built in 1966 which began a tradition of Gaucho spirit, still alive today. Originally home to the UCSB football team, budget cuts eventually ended the program in 1992. However, the stadium has become home to the Men's and Women's soccer teams along with numerous club sports and large concert events. The 17,000 stadium capacity makes it the largest on the central coast.

The stadium has hosted numerous events recently. NCAA Men's Soccer Elite 8 round, LA Galaxy Soccer, Extravaganza and Graduation.

What many believed to put Harder Stadium on the map was its 2004 hosting of the Elite 8 round in Men's Soccer. UCSB beat Virginia Commonwealth in front of 11,216 fans that night. Fans carried off the soccer goal after the victory, similar to the big football schools' carrying their field goals.

Another memorable event at Harder Stadium was the Men's Soccer NCAA 1st Round Tournament. The Men's Soccer team won its first ever play off game in front of 3,400 fans against the University of San Diego.

IntroductionsEvery year the stadium hosts Extravaganza, put on by the Associated Students Program Board. Big name bands in the past have come and played like "No Doubt", "MXPX", "Zebrahead", "Save Ferris" and several other bands. This event is very popular among the students because of the free entertainment and numerous activities available.

Similar to the Thunderdome, if there's a large crowd, the players and coaches notice the rowdiness of the fans.

Capacity: 17,000 - now that's a lot o' loco Gauchos!
