Business Partners
The Gaucho Locos 2007-2008 Season
Why Should Our Business Be Involved? UCSB students hold hundreds of thousands of dollars in purchasing power alone. Students here go out to eat, watch movies, attend concerts, and much more. Those businesses that affiliate themselves with UCSB, whether it is through promoting themselves on campus or by sponsorship with the Athletic Department, often get more regular student customers than those that do not. One of the best organizations on campus, and also one of the biggest, to associate yourself with is the Gaucho Locos, the official student booster club with a membership of approximately 500-700 students annually. The club, formed in 1998, has worked to become one of the largest groups on campus, and helps to promote all University athletic teams on campus. Each year the club provides prizes to its members for attending sporting events, usually in the form of coupons or deals to entice students to dine at local restaurants or spend money at local businesses.
With the money the club raises through membership dues, they are able to provide special events for members, such as bus trips to attend road games, travel to NCAA playoffs, or other special sports-related events. But the club is completely funded through student membership dues and has no direct affiliation anymore with the Athletic Department.
By becoming involved as a sponsor for our club, you will be helping out a great organization, whose sole purpose is to promote Gaucho athletics on campus and in the community, and to help gain recognition for our outstanding athletes who work extremely hard year-round and often do not get much credit for their efforts. In addition, you will see your business name and logo posted on www.gaucholocos.com, which receives hundreds of visits a day, and have the flyers with your logo posted at home athletic events with attendance upwards of 10,000. This is a great opportunity not only to promote a worthy cause, but your business as well.
Are we a group you'd like to be associated with? Would you like to get your name or product in front of hundreds or thousands of students?. Contact us for sponsorship and partner opportunities.
We're currently working on the events, prizes and sponsor opportunites for the 2007-08 year. For more information contact us at: gaucholocos@gaucholocos.com
We would like to thank our current sponsors;
UCSB Future Inadvertent Donor Athletic Projects
While the title of the section is long, the process is relatively simple. UCSB Athletics is always looking, whether they publically state it or not for donors and funds for different projects. The projects we have listed have not been set in motion (and some of them may never be without your support), but they've been put on the drawing board. We here at the Gaucho Locos want to support UCSB Athletics and the hard-working student athletes in any way possible.
We ask that any potential large donors for these projects contact the UCSB Athletics Department and discuss real prices. The prices listed are subjective and relative to basic industry knowledge.
- Thunderdmeter Repair(~$100,000) The Thundermeter was one of the highlights for UCSB Basketball. A noise decibel meter, this meter lighted up when the crowd reached "100" decibels or above. The Thundermeter encouraged the crowd to get loud enough to where the Thunderdome became a huge home-court advantage. More than anything a skilled technician or company that can work with the old parts is needed to fix the Thundermeter as there are apparently no more companies that work on large decibel meters.
- Water Polo / Swimming Complex(~$11 million) Four different UCSB teams play at the Old Pool. UCSB's Men's and Women's Water Polo teams as well as Men's and Women's Swimming compete at the Old Gym / Pool. The pool has been considered for removal to be replaced by another academic building. The Old Pool was likely constructed in the 1950's or earlier and is currently not up to Water Polo regulations. For a school that is set next to the ocean and would presumably pride itself on swimming, a new complex needs to reflect that.
- Pauley Track Stadium Upgrades(~$1.5-5 million) UCSB is currently unable to host Big West Track Championships due to the condition of its facility. Seating is bleacher style, but in worse condition than most high schools. UCSB track athletes change at home to compete. Seating needs to be replaced with a more permanent and longer lasting structure as well as a scorer's booth where judges can judge the race etc. Extra financing could include a permanent timing scoreboard, locker rooms and bathrooms for the athletes / general public.
- UCSB Baseball Projects(~$2 million) UCSB Baseball competes in the Big West conference which is one of the premiere college baseball conferences in the nation.
